Plug In

In the region of Oia, within the settlement of Oia, Municipality of Santorini, along the main pedestrian street, a new building was studied as an expansion of an existing one, both in horizontal and vertical axis. The new building is placed on the north side of the plot, where no other buildings exist, maintaining a distance from the existing ones and without interrupting the view towards the sea for the adjacent buildings. The new volume ends up in domes, two of which are consecutive, a characteristic feature of cycladic architecture, often found in Santorini. The connection between the new and the existing building is achieved through a wooden pergola. In addition, to achieve uniformity, identical elements of the façade are chosen, such as frames and coatings.

Στην περιοχή της Οίας, εντός του οικισμού της Οίας του Δήμου Σαντορίνης, κατά μήκος του κεντρικού πεζόδρομου, μελετήθηκε νέο κτίριο ως επέκταση του υφιστάμενου σε οριζόντιο και κατακόρυφο άξονα. Το νέο κτίριο τοποθετείται στη βόρεια πλευρά του οικοπέδου, όπου δεν υπάρχουν άλλα κτίρια, διατηρώντας απόσταση από το υπάρχον και χωρίς να διακόπτεται η θέα προς τη θάλασσα για τα όμορα κτίσματα. Ο νέος όγκος καταλήγει σε θόλους, δύο από τους οποίους είναι συνεχόμενοι, χαρακτηριστικό γνώρισμα της κυκλαδικής αρχιτεκτονικής, που συναντάται συχνά στη Σαντορίνη. Η σύνδεση μεταξύ νέου και υφιστάμενου κτιρίου επιτυγχάνεται μέσω μιας ξύλινης πέργκολας. Επίσης, χάριν ομοιομορφίας επιλέγονται όμοια στοιχεία όψης, όπως ίδια κουφώματα και επιχρίσματα.
